Rules and Regulations

• Entries will only be accepted from students who are in full-time education in Abu Dhabi aged 18 or under on 1 Sept 2023 

• Late entries will not be accepted

• The organisers reserve the right to refuse any incomplete entry or an entry that does not meet the required standards of the competition

• Full payment must be made along with the entry form, with the bank receipt uploaded as proof of payment. 

• A separate payment is required for each entry. Ie, if a student enters on 2 or more instruments, entry fees are required for both instruments

• All fees are subject to 5% VAT

• Entry fees, once received are non-refundable

• Entrants do not need to have passed any exams, but must be of the requisite standard. Teacher/parent discretion is required

• Entrants must choose repertoire which reflects the high standards of performance expected in the competition

• Vocalists must include repertoire from across the genres (baroque/classical & musical theatre) 

• Singers and instrumentalists are encouraged to perform a range of repertoire rather than identical pieces in each round

• Those selected for the Grand Final may perform repertoire already performed in the competition or may choose new repertoire. However again, repertoire for the final should include contrasting pieces

• Performers must provide their own accompanists. The organisers can put you in touch with an accompanist if required. Please indicate this on your entry form 

• Backing tracks are only permitted in the Rock n Pop category. These will need to be on a USB

• Amplifiers, microphones etc may only be used in the Rock n Pop category. Such equipment will be provided

• Any performance that runs over the maximum time limit may be terminated by the adjudicators

• Repeats may or may not be observed at the entrants’ discretion (eg due to time constraints)

• Performances are not expected to be from memory, though this may enhance the overall performance and engagement

• All performers will receive short verbal feedback at the end of each round as well as more detailed written comments

• The adjudicators’ decisions are final and no discussions will be entered into regarding results

• By entering, the applicant, parents, teachers and accompanists confirm that they accept the rules and regulations of the competition

Payment

• The cost will be AED 250 (including VAT).

• A screenshot/pdf of the payment must be uploaded to the application form. 

• The invoice and receipt will be sent to the email address the screenshot was received from.
